Monkey

This little girl is full of spirit and loves to zoom around in the grass and root everywhere she goes! She gives the best piggy-kisses and absolutely loves her belly rubbed. Even though she was the runt of her litter, she has a BIG heart! Monkey came to us with her best friend Marley after being saved from an early slaughter. She wasn't going to make a "good wean pig" because she was too small, the confinement said. Because of this, they were going to kill her and thousands others in the same week for the same reason! Luckily, she was spared and now has a forever home with friends that will shower her with love forever!

Marley

Mr. Marley has grown into a big'ol hunk and is quite the happy pig! He loves to give piggy-kisses and will snort and talk to you all day long if you let him! Like Monkey, Marley was considered too small to continue feeding and growing so he was sentenced to an early death out of convenience and cost to the confinement he came from. He was fortunate to be spared and was brought to our sanctuary where he will no longer have to fear the perils his fellow piglets are forced to live with.

Kayla (The Fighter)

This lucky little girl had enough of being confined in a large semi with hundreds of other piglets so she decided to make a break for it! What she didn't know was that she was on an interstate when she lept for freedom. However, thanks to the kindness of another driver who witnessed the incident take place, she was taken to the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines and was fixed right up. Now she gets to live with us and all of our farm friends without the fear of ever being put back onto one of those trucks ever again!

Carl

Carl had a pretty rough start to his life. When he was just two days old, he was taken from his mother and was sent to auction to be sold into the veal industry. Lucky for him, there was a kind person at the auction that day that purchased him and brought him to our sanctuary to live a life full of love and devoid of the horrors that he would have been exposed to in the veal industry.

Matty

Matty is one of three sheep that were consistant escape artists from their owner. After he repeatedly escaped with his two friends Otis and Leon, his owner no longer wanted the responsibility. We are fortunate to have this timid little fella and we are excited to show him that not all humans are bad!!

Otis

Otis is one of the three amigos who were found roaming around after escaping the property they were suppose to live on. He is a gentle giant and loves his face rubbed! He will follow you wherever you go and can not get enough attention. He and his two buddies are living the life now grazing all day with plenty of space to move around!

Leon

Leon was about 5 years old when he passed so unexpectedly. He was loved beyond words and we wish we could have had more time to get to know him. He is missed every day by us and by Matty as well. They were best friends and were inseperable. Luckily, Matty has his big brother Otis to follow around now and to help him through this life! We love you Leon and hope you rest peacefully.

Sammy

Sammy recently came to us after being rescued from a shelter who was going to have to put him down if no one would adopt him. Luckily, a very kind and loving person saved him from this unfortunate fate and was put in contact with us. She was told Sammy fell from a slaughter truck and was taken to the shelter to be saved. He and Kayla have a lot in common and now they will both have a loving forever home here at our sanctuary!

Bennie

Bennie is already a superstar! He was brought ot our sanctuary after being born the runt and the farmer not wanting to take the time to bottle feed this adorable little guy! He will bring a smile to anybody's face the instant they see him. We could literally watch him hop and skip around the farm all day everyday and be completely content! He is full of energy and will play with anyone and everyone.

Astor and Rose

These beautiful birds were brought to us after being changed hands of three different owners who no longer wanted them or could take care of them! A very nice girl was thoughtful enough to bring them here so they could finally have a place they could call home! They have made friends with our other birds and are enjoying living the sanctuary life.

Piper

This lucky little lady is another victim saved after falling off of a livestock truck near Iowa City. She was taken to Iowa City's animal shelter where they took care of her and kept her safe. Her beak has been clipped, most likely from the farm she came from, but she no longer has to worry about further mutilation or harm! The awesome individuals at Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption center turned over to our sanctuary so we can give her the opportunity to live a life full of love and freedom!

Kip

Kip was a total accident and a big surprise to the farmer after being born inside a feedlot. The farmer's daughter was able to talk her father into surrendering him to our sanctuary and to give him a chance at a life of freedom and joy. When he arrived here, Kip was just over a week old and full of spunk! He loves to butt heads with Bennie and snuggle with Carl.

Gigi

Gigi (short for Grandpas Girl) was surrendered to IFS after her owners health declined rapidly. Grandpa knew if his animals didn't come to live at IFS they may end up as dinner. Gigi is the mother of Racer and Ryder and watches over them constantly! Every once and a while Gigi will still nurse her boys, just the way nature intended!

Ryder

Ryder is the twin brother of Racer. Although these boys are twins, they are easy to tell apart. Ryder has horns, white patches and even faints from time to time. Ryder has come a long way from who he was just a few short months ago; from running away upon or arrival to sprinting to us and eating out of our hands!

Racer

Racers name is no coincidence; this lil kid can run! Although Racer is very partial to his mother and brother, he is opening up to being friends with Bennie and Matty as well.

Donnie

Donnie came with his friends Dannie after being rescued from a large dairy operation. Donnie's early days were not pretty; he was taken from his mother moments after birth and became very ill. After the vets at University of Illinois were able to get him and Dannie healthy enough, they made the long journey to Marengo, IA. Donnie is the best guardian of little Dannie and you will rarely find them apart.

Dannie

Dannie was the smallest calf when he arrived at IFS.

Although Dannie is still the little guy in his group, he has got

a big personality. We cannot wait to watch these little

guys grow and thrive!

Hope

Hope came from one of the counties largest hog confinements. Not only was she the runt of her litter, but she also sustained some major injuries from being stepped on and crushed. A brave employee who was supposed to be Hopes killer, took pity on her and instead became her savior.

Tauntaun

Tauntaun came to Iowa Farm Sanctuary after a series of traumatic events in his short two weeks of life; he was found hypothermic and unresponsive, had a severely fractured tail, suffered from entropian and a nasty stomach bug. Tauntaun shows us his gratitude constantly, he is SO affectionate! We cannot wait to see this little guy grow and thrive!
